China Cancer Help (chinacancerhelp.com) is a medical coordination service. We help patients outside China, and their families, get their cancer cases reviewed by specialists at Chinese hospitals and, if they choose, arrange treatment there. We are not a hospital and we do not provide medical care.
To do this work we handle health information. This policy explains what we collect, why we need it, who sees it, where it is stored and what you can ask us to do with it. In this policy, “China Cancer Help”, “we” and “us” mean the operator of chinacancerhelp.com.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact details: name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, country of residence and preferred language.
- Medical records: diagnosis, pathology and biopsy reports, imaging (CT, MRI, PET-CT, including DICOM files), genetic or NGS test results, treatment history and current medications.
- Practical details: travel dates, who will accompany the patient, and visa or accommodation needs, if you ask us to help with a trip.
If you are writing on behalf of a patient, please make sure the patient agrees, or that you are legally allowed to act for them.
Information collected automatically
When you browse the site, we and our service providers collect technical data such as pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location (based on IP address) and how you arrived at the site. This is done with cookies and similar tools. See our Cookie Policy.
2. Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and understand the patient’s situation.
- To prepare a case summary, and translate records where needed, for review by specialists.
- To identify suitable hospitals, departments and doctors, and to share the review results and treatment options with you.
- To arrange appointments, interpreters, visa letters, accommodation and transport, if you decide to travel.
- To schedule calls with you, for example through an online booking tool.
- To run, protect and improve the website and measure how well our advertising works.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use medical records for marketing, and we do not send health information to analytics or advertising tools.
3. Who we share it with
We share only what each party needs for its role:
- Hospitals and doctors in China that review or treat the case. We send records to them only after you ask us to go ahead.
- Interpreters, translators and care coordinators who work on your case and are bound by confidentiality.
- Service providers that host our website, email, file storage and scheduling tools (such as Calendly), and that provide analytics and advertising measurement (such as Google). They may use the data only to provide their service to us.
- Authorities, where the law requires it, or where you ask us to help with visa or travel paperwork.
4. Transfer of data to China
Our coordination team and partner hospitals are in the People’s Republic of China. If you send us records, they will be transferred to and processed in China. Some of our service providers may also store data in other countries, including the United States.
We handle these transfers with China’s Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) in mind and, where it applies to you, the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Because health information is sensitive, we ask for your explicit consent before we send records to a hospital. You can withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawing it does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
5. How long we keep it
We keep case files while we are helping you and for follow-up afterwards. In general, we delete or anonymise them within 3 years of our last contact, unless the law requires us to keep them longer. You can ask us to delete them sooner. Hospitals that treat the patient keep their own medical records under their own rules.
6. How we protect it
Files are sent over encrypted connections. Only staff and partners working on the case can access them. No online system is completely secure, so please send only the documents we ask for, and do not send passwords or payment card details by email.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- see a copy of the data we hold about you;
- correct it or ask us to delete it;
- receive it in a portable format;
- withdraw consent, or object to or restrict certain uses.
To make a request, email support@chinacancerhelp.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We aim to reply within 30 days. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
8. Children
If the patient is under 18, a parent or legal guardian should contact us and provide the records.
9. Not medical advice
Medical opinions and treatment plans come from licensed doctors at the hospitals involved. Information on this website is general and does not replace advice from your own doctor.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make important changes, we will say so on this page.
